Now it's time to place the first layer of colour. I make a new layer above the line sketch and use a large Faux Finish brush (same settings as before: 45 % opacity, size jitter on) to block in the colour. This is the only brush I'll be using from here on. I'm using a pale swamp green as my base colour. During the initial stages of sketching it's better to work fast, so that if you don't like the result, you can throw it away and start again without crying a river over the work you've done. Go over the lines. In fact, it's better to go over the lines: after all, it's easier to erase something than draw it.
